Filming Blog

Image
To start off I didn't film while I was on Thanksgiving break, I wasn't in the country. I went to Colombia to spend time with my grandparents and my family over there. My partner Liliana Rubio also went on a trip to spend Thanksgiving somewhere else. I left for my trip on Monday and Liliana left for hers on Tuesday. We decided to just start filming the week after which is this week since we will both be here. I feel like we could have finished it during Thanksgiving break but we couldn't since both of our parents wanted to go on a trip. Overall though it was a fun trip so I can't complain I just wish this corona would end so everything could go back to normal. For my trip I went to Cali Colombia which is where I am from and so is the rest of my family. For Thanksgiving we had a big feast with some of my family but not all. I wish it could've been my whole family but because of the corona everyone stays home to be safe. We had a great time and I'm hoping to go bac...

Planning Storyboard For My Music Video

Image
Me and my partner both chose this song for our music video because it has a story in it, and we enjoyed listening to it. We came to a conclusion and chose to do it in a car instead of a park because we thought it would be better. As you can see for the first scene, we are walk towards the car to start off the music video. We are thinking about maybe putting that part in slow motions with also the second scene. For the second scene we are just getting into the car and getting ready to leave. For the third scene before we left, I decide to say, "you remember the good old days before getting to Highschool". That scene is what starts off the conversation between me and Lilliana. In scene four after me saying that we both look at each other and she says, "yeah I remember". In scene five Liliana remembered that there used to be pictures of us in the car cabinet. She takes them out and gets surprised with how much we've changed while growing up. For scene six she start...

Planning For My Music Video

Image
The Song for this music video is call "Don't you worry child" by Swedish house mafia. Me and my partner Liliana Rubio both chose this song and I think planning for this song will go smoothly. Since this song tells a story on its own, we've decided to incorporate that into our props such as old photo of us growing up. In the song the story is of him growing up and I think we should simulate that story with pictures as we get old, like an old vs now. I think the incorporation of images of us growing up would add a nice touch to the theme with how we plan to do it. We want this music video to not only be relaxing but we want to go back to memory lane and experience it again. For the costumes we came wear just black or white or both mixed nothing too much. I feel like this would be like a subtle feel like chill since its only one or to colors which are nice and basic. We haven't decided yet whether to do it in the morning or in the afternoon for a shadow and darker fe...

Research Blog Music Video Conventions

Image
Music videos tend to be long ranging from 2-5min. Some videos can even last longer than that. Conventions construct the messages and meaning within the music video. Music videos tend to have long scenes. Our song that we chose fits in the genre of dance/electro. This genre can also be referred to as EDM (electronic dance music) music. These types of videos tend to have a young crowd. This makes it appealing to young people. The settings of these videos are usually in a club, big open areas, and even swimming pools. But, it's usually that setting for when the beat drops and it gives a very happy/energetic mood. The scenes tend to change with the beat of the music. The music tends to be a very hyped/energetic beat throughout the whole video. But it's different since the beat is like steady at some points and then at other the beat completely changes to a more fast moving music. Also when the beat changes like that which is referred to like when the beat drops, there is...

Introduction To The Music Video Project

Image
I was given a music video project for my second one and I think it's going to be exciting. I think this one is going to be a little bit better than my commercial project because now I know how these filming project work for the most part. For this project I am working with my friend Liliana Rubio. Liliana has the same class as me and in the same period too. Since classes are all online, I don't know anyone else in my class other than her. I've known her since I was little, early elementary. She has been my friend ever since and that is one of the reasons I am working with her. Another reason I am working with her is because she lives really close to me. We both live next to the elementary we went to and that is good for this project so we can film together. The song we chose is called Don't You Worry Child by Swedish House Mafia. We took some time trying to pick out songs and which one would be better to use. At the beginning we wanted to use a Spanish song but then we ...

Critical Reflection Questions

Image
 1. How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent in social group issues?  For my film I did a Nike commercial which can go with many other themes of commercials since it's a sport branded product such as Gatorade adidas and under amor. These relate to mine because they are all brands that make sport items and clothing. I used close up angles and wide shot angles in my commercial to show my surroundings and to represent the Nike brand. These brands compete for who is better and for people to buy them this is why they would go against the other brands I did it outside because since it's a sports commercial its best to do it outside. Not all sports commercials are outside but I did mine out there since i was representing Nike cleats. 2. How does your product engage with audiences and how would it be distributed as a real media text?  I think this commercial could be played at any time of the day whether it be on tv or YouTube because it is a c...

Commerical Blog

Image
Honestly when I first receiving this commercial filming assignment, I was really nervous because I didn't want to mess it all up and fail. I noticed that I did a lot of errors from not having a net, or choosing the right times to film, to choosing a good editing software. But I like to think of this as a learning experience and get better as you mess up. I honestly don't think I did that bad on the commercial with my editing because I am still a beginner. Even though I felt nervous at the beginning I felt really excited at the end of it all because I got through it. I also don't think I did that bad because don't have any filming equipment like a good camera or mics for the talking. All I had was my phone and even though the quality isn't bad I didn't like the audio because of the wind in the back. Therefore I think choosing the right time of the day is better. If I'd have to do another commercial or any other filming project I would wake up really early and...

Editing Blog

Image
To start off for the editing software I was planning on using iMovie since I have a Mac but, my friend that helped me film which was the goalkeeper said there was an easier editing software to use since I'm only a beginner. He recommended me cute cut to edit my commercial. I am still trying to figure out which would be the best editing software because right now I have the free version of cute cut because the actual pro version is 30 dollars. As of right now I am only working with the free editing software's, but I think I am going to buy one since those are probably better. I know I am going to be in this class for a while and we are going to edit a lot so I think that would be a good investment also, not only for this class but in the future too. For some reason I couldn't access the videos that I took from my photos to uploaded them into cute cut, I don't know what happened there because my phone is connected to my computer. I just emailed them to myself from my phon...

Filming Blog

Well to start off my filming didn't really go as planned. For one it has been raining nonstop so I didn't have to many chances to film. I decided to go to the north east high school practice felid and when I got there, there were no nets. The only ones that where there were ones on the football field but we weren't allowed to go back there. I didn't think that would have been a problem because every time I go there are nets there and now they wanted to lock them up in the back. In my opinion this commercial would've been a lot better if we at least had a net to shoot on. Instead i had to use an old opening of a fence, it wouldn't have been my first choice, but it was all I had. It took me about 2 days in order to fill all of it because of the rain and the flooding that was happening around my area. Also, my brother couldn't make it due to him having work and school. Two of my friends helped me film one was on the camera and the other one was the goalkeeper. ...
